Treatment Approach
EVIDENCE-BASED, PATIENT CENTRIC CARE
The treatment style at Principle Performance prioritizes physical rehabilitation and corrective exercises while also utilizing chiropractic manipulations and myofascial treatments to get you moving and functioning at your very best. The approach to care is based off of the biopsychosocial model in order to get to the root cause of one’s complaint/ailment as well as to provide the highest quality of care for each patient. Addressing the biological, psychological, and social aspects of each patients’ case allows us to empower our patients to live more functional and higher quality of life.
INITIAL EXAMINATION
Your first visit will consist of a thorough examination in order to diagnose the cause of your discomfort/dysfunction while also determining if any referral to another medical provider is necessary. The initial examination is heavily rooted in the McKenzie method® of mechanical diagnosis and therapy® (MDT) as this best allows the provider to determine the source of the patient’s pain/discomfort. Following the examination will be a functional evaluation in order to determine and create a customized & evidence-based treatment plan to achieve your functional and personalized goals of care.
FUNCTIONAL EVALUATION
Once you have completed your initial examination and received your diagnosis, your second visit will consist of a movement-based examination in order to evaluate your soft tissues as well as the strengths and weaknesses with functional movement patterns and how they pertain to your chief complaint(s). This evaluation will be used throughout the course of care to re-evaluate your progress/regression with care
MANUAL THERAPY
Many of your sessions will include some amount of hands-on myofascial treatment along with joint mobilization and manipulation. We utilize an approach that is designed to temporarily improve joint range of motion and release tension that stems from various soft tissue trigger points. This approach is meant to help the patient to move more freely while allowing for better movement during your corrective exercises.
PHYSICAL REHABILITATION/CORRECTIVE EXERCISES
Once the manual therapy has been utilized to decrease tension and improve range of motion, we work with you to increase control of this new range of motion using personalized, rehabilitation and corrective exercises. The exercises frequently used are strength- and pilates-based. We use these exercises to help each patient learn about their body’s incredible ability, gain confidence in movement, and empower their outlook on the future as it relates to their function and pain.
